WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Please refer to the gear list on this page. You are expected to bring proper clothing items and proper climbing hardware such as crampons, ice axe, helmet, harness, mountaineering boots etc. Should you have any questions regarding clothing layers, please contact us. If you rent gear from us, we will bring it with us and distribute that on Day 1. There is an REI in Seattle should you need any supplies and you can rent other gear from American Alpine Institute in Bellingham. We recommend a pair of single mountaineering boots or a “boot and a half”. Double boots will be too warm and heavy for this climb. We will supply a lightweight, alpine style, two-person tent for the climb. You are welcome to bring your own tent for the nights spent at the campground.
We will provide first aid kits, shared group gear, tents, ropes and other technical equipment as needed.
We do not provide food. Please plan to bring your own food for your adventure. You will need 2 mountain dinners and 2 mountain breakfasts. Instead of lunch, we just eat snacks throughout the day.
TRAINING Proper training plays a big factor in your success and enjoyment during this climb. Forbidden peak is strenuous. Please arrive in top-top shape. Months of cross training will be your ticket to success. Training can include running, hiking, hill or stair climbs with a heavy pack and long days spent in the mountains. Focus on legs, core, back and cardio. Upper body strength is a bonus but does not directly translate to climbing big mountains.
