Presidential Traverse Hike

WELCOME TO THE NEM COMMUNITY!
Thank you for choosing Northeast Mountaineering! We are looking forward to meeting you and taking you on an unforgettable adventure. At Northeast Mountaineering, we strive to give you the best climbing experience possible. We will work hard to make your time with us a success from start to finish!

ON THE DAY OF YOUR ADVENTURE
To set ourselves up for success, clients must stay with us the night before so that we can do a car spot, proper gear check and make arrangements to get anything we may need last minute. This takes the better part of 5-6 hours. On the first day of the traverse we will meet at 7:00AM sharp at The Bunkhouse at Northeast Mountaineering. If you are late, we cannot wait for you, as a courtesy to our other climbers. Please plan your travel accordingly. Don’t forget to factor in pit stops, traffic, and navigation errors due to limited cell signals in the area.

For liability reasons, we do not offer transportation. Please plan to drive your car or carpool to the trailhead.

Your guided mountain adventure will run regardless of the weather. Come prepared for the worst and hope for the best!

Please bring your health insurance card with you.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Please wear synthetic materials such as wool, polyester, goose down, and tech wick. NO COTTON. We recommend that you layer your clothing so you can manage your body temperature appropriately. A proper backpack with a waist strap to carry your clothing, equipment, food and water is required.

We will provide first aid kits, shared group gear, ropes and other technical equipment as needed.

We do not provide food. Please plan to bring your own food for your adventure.

HOW TO FIND US
You can find directions to The Bunkhouse at NEM here. We strongly encourage you to stay with us the night before and after your climb.

We will meet at The Bunkhouse at Northeast Mountaineering located at 1054 Pinkham Notch Road, Glen NH 03838. This address does not show up on GPS’s – we are 1 mile north of Storyland on the same side of the road [Located across from the Glen Ledge Convenience Store and Gas Station].

GRATUITIES and OTHER COSTS
Our guides are highly trained and have logged countless hours in the backcountry gaining the experience and knowledge it requires to become a guide for NEM. A typical gratuity for a job well done is 20% or $20pp/guide/day.

THE BUNKHOUSE AT NORTHEAST MOUNTAINEERING
The Bunkhouse is a fully-heated, hostel-style community bunkroom. It offers a dry, warm, and cozy place to catch some rest before and after your adventure. The Bunkhouse has one public shower with limited hot water. However there are quarter-operated showers 15 minutes down the road at Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. BYOB.
