At NEM we take great pride in the proper preparation of each and every client.
Below you will find welcome information including where and when to meet, necessary clothing and equipment and recommended lodging options if needed. Please read through the information on each tab below to familiarize yourself with the plan.

ON THE DAY OF YOUR ADVENTURE
On the day of AidClimb we will at The Bunkhouse at Northeast Mountaineering. Please visit the correct tab for your hike on this page and arrive at the appropriate time. If you are late, we cannot wait for you, as a courtesy to our other participants. Please plan your travel accordingly. Don’t forget to factor in pit stops, traffic, and navigation errors due to limited cell signals in the area.

For liability reasons, we do not offer transportation. Please plan to drive your car or carpool to the trailhead.

AidClimb will run regardless of the weather. Come prepared for the worst and hope for the best!

HOW TO FIND US
You can find directions to The Bunkhouse at NEM here.

We will meet at The Bunkhouse at Northeast Mountaineering located at 1054 Pinkham Notch Road, Glen NH 03838. This address does not show up on GPS’s – we are 1 mile north of Storyland on the same side of the road [Located across from the Glen Ledge Convenience Store and Gas Station].

GRATUITIES and OTHER COSTS
Our guides are highly trained and have logged countless hours in the backcountry gaining the experience and knowledge it requires to become a guide for NEM. A typical gratuity for a job well done is 20% or $20pp/guide/day.

Gear List

Here you will find a complete list of mandatory items for this adventure. For your convenience, we have many of these available to supplement the layers of clothing that you already own. If you have clothing, please bring it with you and we will do a gear check to make sure that you are well prepared for the hike.

Please wear synthetic materials such as wool, polyester, goose down, and tech wick. NO COTTON. We recommend that you layer your clothing so you can manage your body temperature appropriately. A proper backpack with a waist strap to carry your clothing, equipment, food and water is required.

We will provide first aid kits, although it’s not a bad idea to bring a small personal kit to address minor aches and pains and blisters if needed.

HEADWEAR
Ball Cap, Sunglasses, Headlamp

UPPER BODY
Wicking Tee-shirt, Light Insulating Layer, Hardshell Jacket [wind and waterproof], Heavy Insulating Layer [in case of an emergency]

LOWER BODY
Shorts or light-weight hiking pants

FOOTWEAR
Hiking Boots or trail-running sneakers

GEAR & EQUIPMENT
Backpack with Waist Strap

NUTRITION & HYDRATION
Please plan trail-ready snacks to munch on in small spurts throughout the hike. You can anticipate nine 10 minute breaks so bring enough food to have a small snack at each one. Each person should start with 2-3 Liters of Water in Nalgene Bottles or a hydration bladder.

Mt. Washington

On the day of your scheduled climb we will meet at 6:00AM sharp at The Bunkhouse at Northeast Mountaineering. If you are late, we cannot wait for you, as a courtesy to our other climbers. Please plan your travel accordingly. Don’t forget to factor in pit stops, traffic, and navigation errors due to limited cell signals in the area.

AMMONOOSUC RAVINE TRAIL
Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail. Mount Washington via Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail is a 6.9 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Marshfield Station, New Hampshire that offers waterfalls, dense forest, scenic views and an enjoyable hike to Mount Monroe and/or Washington (6288′).
